It is a 'home' full of memories of our grandparents, our families and of course our "home away from home".

After forester Piet and his wife had lived their entire life in this house, Joep went to live here with his family more than 20 years ago. Now at a different stage in life, we roam to our "homes away from home" for family visits and work. Rest and relaxation always bring us back to this special place.

The house is part of the family Estate Bieduinen. We are very happy with our neighbours, staying in the large country house "Bieduinenhof", a living-working community called "Titurel" and a homefor people living with autism. In addition, Joep is working the estate -with the "new forester" Anton- in their own way of integrated forestry,nowadays called aninnovative approach, working with nature tomake the forest a healthy ecosystem for people, animals and plants.

The sophisticated search for balance between integrated ecological forest management and production forest has yielded a beautiful environment with the presence of rare animals and birds (in and) around the house. You can see the Honey Buzzard, Hawk and various species of rare bats floating among the trees. A little further on, one of the scarce pairs of Black Woodpeckers nestles. If you sleep in "Het Kantoortje"; don't be scared; the tree marten happily skips over the roof at night. With a little luck - and peace around the house - you can see young deer grazing in the garden! The early risers, awakened by a concert of birds, can see even foxes roaming and the forest owls.

Do you have less need to work the bird guides? Walking or bikingfor miles in and around the cross-border National Parc, dining in Antwerp, shopping in Rosada outlet, swimming in Hoogerheide, going to the beach, orjust relaxing in the garden, lighting a fire on the terrace and having a delicious BBQ is more than possible!
